At 185 2 and with opener Alex Hibbert having his best innings of the season it was a question of whether Chesterfield could find 68 runs in the final ten overs.



Their cause was not helped when two wickets fell soon after including Hibbert for an excellent 92 but any doubts were soon erased as Higginbottom smashed 53 off 23 balls with the fifth of his sixes winning the game with five balls to spare. The defeat dented Spondon's title aspirations but the win for Chesterfield was a big boost for their attempts to climb clear of the relegation zone. They climb one place to eighth but the pressure remains on with other lower placed sides having good results so the visit of second placed Swarkestone to Queen's Park Nike Kids MercurialX Proximo II TF - Obsidian/White/Gamma Blue on Saturday becomes another key contest for Chesterfield.
